Sunday provides an early opportunity for Middlesex to gain a modecum of revenge for last Saturdays Middleton Cup defeat when they travel to face Buckinghamshire BA in the Balcombe Trophy 1st rd at Gerrards Cross BC.

The Balcombe Trophy is a double rink competition providing each County the opportunity to field what they consider to be their best 2 rinks of players. Competition can be fierce and the standard of play potentially very high.

Middlesex will be represented by Glen Adams (Hendon), Barry Wheeler (West Ealing), Chris Harris & Tony Waller (Ladygate) plus Kevin Ward (Broomfield), Chris Dunkley (Poplar), Steve Stockley (Parsons Green) and Perry Cook (Poplar).

Buckinghamshire have selected Neil Varnish (Gerrards Cross), Tim Godman (Stony Stratford), Kirk Smith & John Mcguinness (Gerrards Cross), plus Alex Aquires (Bletchley Town), Paul Levitt (Stony Stratford), Rhys Lee (Blethley Town) & Andy Briden (Gerrards Cross).

Middlesex of course can boast current Under 25 International Glen Adams. Buckinghamshire though can count the current England International Captain John McGuinness in their side.

With no recent direct Balcombe history between the 2 sides it will be a new challenge for both with the winners progressing to the Regional Finals on June 25th. The other games in our region are Kent v Surrey, Berkshire v Sussex and Hampshire v Isle of Wight.

With a tough game envisaged I am sure the players would welcome your support on the morning.

Report next week.
