TIGHT GAME SEES FRIENDLY SQUAD SNEAK PAST BEDFORDSHIRE BA

Shefford Bowls Club, near Hitchin, was the venue for the 3rd friendly of the season as the squad travelled to face Bedfordshire BA.

Previous years have seen this fixture blighted by problems with the weather but this year the 2 sides managed to complete a full game!

It proved to be a very tight game as well with Middlesex only recording victory on 2 rinks but those 2 were enough as the side edged home 109-108.

The winning rinks were Roy Lee (Brondesbury), Keith, Gordon Anderson and David Franklin all from Bury Lodge who won 22-14. Apologies to Keith but no surname is provided so your anonymity is secured! Top rink though was Bob Worley (Brentham), Kevin Woodhead (Assistant Secretary, Fordbridge Park), Phil Shepherd (Masonian) and President Andy Docker who won 24-15.

After the game Terry Eustance of Grovelands was presented with his full County Badge.

Next up for Middlesex, on Monday 22nd May is the annual tough game against Leicestershire BA. In the last 10 years Middlesex have only won this friendly twice, 2012 away from home and 2015 when in our last home friendly we won by 10. This game is being played at Winchmore Hill Bowls Club starting at 1400hrs if you fancy wandering along to see the sides do battle.
