HOME COUNTIES LEAGUE PREVIEW

SATURDAY 27TH MAY 2017 HENDON BC 1100HRS

Following last weeks ignominous start to the 2017 Home Counties League Campaign Middlesex have ground to make up this Saturday when they host Sussex BA at Hendon Bowls Club. Another defeat, especially another heavy one, would make winning the league this year almost impossible.

Sussex will also be keen to win as they have opened their campaign with back to back defeats, a 3rd would surely end their interest for another year.

Until recently in the league Middlesex have had a very good record against the South Coast County, winning every game from 2007 to 2013, since then however Middlesex have lost 3 straight. In 2015 at Bush Hill Park Bowls club, the last home game we lost by 30.

Team Manager Ray Fortune is again using this game to look at players and combinations ahead of announcing his Middleton Cup side later this weekend and he was keen to emphasise that there are places up for grabs.

In the days other games, undefeated sides Kent and Surrey meet at Maidstone BC. Early league leaders Berkshire, who have won both their opening games, entertain Oxfordshire at Three Mile Cross BC. Both these games start at 1400hrs.

Due to something going on at Wembley later in the day please be reminded this game starts at 1100hrs, spectators will be welcomed to encourage the side to a needed victory.
