This Saturday Middlesex play their penultimate Home Counties League game of 2017 when they provide the filler for Kent BA in their Middleton Cup sandwich.

Victorious in last Saturday’s Middleton Cup Quarter Final against Buckinghamshire BA, next Saturday, 5th August, Kent take on Bedfordshire BA at Leamington for the right to play either Devon BA or Northumberland BA in that afternoons final. Should Kent and Devon both win their Semi’s it would be the 2nd consecutive year they have met in the final, added to that they met in the 2015 Semi, so it is not too hard to work out who the dominant Counties in English Bowls are!

In this season’s Home Counties Kent currently lie 3rd in the table with Middlesex 5th. 3rd is actually a relatively low position for Kent who are regular league champions. With undefeated Surrey and current league leaders Berkshire above them they will be keen to record a good win to keep up their challenge at the top, especially as they know Berkshire and Surrey still have to play each other.

Middlesex for their part can’t realistically finish higher than 4th but have to be keen to put in a good performance after an inconsistent season with only 1 win from their 4 League Games to date.

Recent history suggests this game is a one horse race with the winners colours being blue. Middlesex have lost the last 7 league fixtures against Kent and indeed have won only 3 of the last 15. The good news however is that history is there to be re written and records broken, will tomorrow be the day.

In the days other games 4th place Sussex complete their campaign against win less Oxfordshire at Eastbourne while 6th place Buckinghamshire host Surrey at Chesham.

So will Middlesex stand tall in the face of adversity or will they fold like a pack of cards. Why not come along, support the lads and find out for your self.

Report and pictures to come in due course.
