WIN OR BUST AS MIDDLESEX TRAVEL TO THE ISLE OF WIGHT
This Saturday, June 17th, sees the 2nd round of group games in this years Middleton Cup with Middlesex making the long trip to Shanklin BC to take on the Isle of Wight BA and Buckinghamshire travelling to Atherley BC to face Hampshire BA.
Middlesex travel knowing that anything less than a win will effectively end their campaign for this season after only 2 games.
3 changes, all enforced, have been made to the side for this game with Dave Norton (Hendon), Stuart McConannachie (Ashford) and Rod Smith (Holtwhites) coming in for Chris Ryan, Alan Harman and Ernie Rudston respectively.
Middlesex are coming off the back of their confidence boosting win against Buckinghamshire in the Balcombe Trophy but the Islanders have started in the season in fine style beating Hampshire in both the Middleton and the Balcombe.
In both 2013 and 2015 Middlesex won at Shanklin 20-2 and last season, on neutral turf at Cove BC, Middlesex won by 21 shots and also gained 20 points, a repeat of this success is much needed.
Despite these recent results a tough game is expected and Team Manager Ray will be warning against complacency as Middlesex look to extend their campaign into the final game as a minimum.
With the forecast glorious, if you fancy a day out and you can get ferry tickets why not follow the side and enjoy a great afternoons bowling supporting the boys. For those unable to travel our County photographer Mrs W will be travelling so we should have some good piccies to enjoy.
Travel well, report next week
